Killer Nashville conference, August 23-26, 2012

Check it out: I'll be doing a branding workshop at Killer Nashville in August! Woot! In addition to, probably, participating in a panel or two. I usually also do a few manuscript critiques, if anyone's got a chapter they'd like my opinion on. There's a link about halfway down, on the right, that you can click for more information on that. See you there?

Make your book STAND OUT from the crowd
Killer Nashville Conference Dates: August 23 - 26, 2012
Killer Nashville will be August 23-26, 2012 at Nashville's five-star Hutton Hotel. Killer Nashville was created in 2006 to bring together forensic experts, writers, and fans of crime and thriller literature.
BRANDED: HOW TO MAKE YOU & YOUR BOOK STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD

Want people to take notice of your work? Want to know how to become distinguishable from other authors? Find out how to hone your strengths into a powerful brand name. Presenter Jennie Bentley, New York Times bestselling author of Berkley Crime’s "Do-It-Yourself" mysteries leads this interactive discussion, but you have to be a registered attendee of Killer Nashville to attend.

WILL LAVENDER COVERS PLOTTING AT KILLER NASHVILLE

Kentucky native Will Lavender hit the New York Times bestseller list with his 2009 debut, Obedience, which also became an international bestseller. Compared to Stephen King, Jeffery Deaver, and Michael Connelly, Lavender created a new and exciting sub-genre of "puzzle thrillers" by blending mysteries and thrillers. Lavender will be sharing his intense plotting techniques at Killer Nashville 2012.

QUERY WRITING JUST GOT SIMPLE

The query is the key that gets you in the door. Killer Nashville's top-notch publishing professionals contrast queries that work with queries that fall short, then reveal how to make your query polished, professional, and compelling. Does your query sparkle like a gemstone? Does it stand out from the thousands of queries that your dream agent or editor receives? If not, it could. Join us at this breakout session for only an additional $15.

OF DARK & STORMY NIGHTS: SETTING & ATMOSPHERE

Elmore Leonard said, "Never open with the weather," but done well, weather and other setting details set the mood and create atmosphere that carry the story and characters forward. How do master writers use setting and atmosphere to bring their stories to life? Killer Nashville's published authors reveal how they do it - and how you can do it too. Sign up and get started!
